Okay, so its been just over a month since I made the move from the arid flat-lands of West Texas to the humid climate of Florida's Treasure Coast. It has been quite a journey, one I'm glad I took even though it meant leaving behind family and friends. My new position is as a photographer for the Treasure Coast Newspapers based out of the Vero Beach office. It's been a nice transition from a chief photographer with some administrative duties to a daily shooter.
My role is pretty simple here: make the best images I can for the assignments that come my way. And over the course of the last month, I've had several interesting assignments. I've gone to a shelter for homeless men, a soup kitchen that has been in operation for 25 years, I watched a group of teachers get their heads shaved, watched firefighters extinguish a house fire and photographed two New York Mets spring training games. It's been a full month.
Here are a few of the photos I've made from those assignments and few others. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next month has in store.
